Balfour GP receives recognition award

Lindeque is described as doctor who has had a great impact in the community over the years.

Dr Pieter Lindeque, a general practitioner in Balfour, was selected by his peers as an award winner at the Alliance of the South African Independent Practitioners Association (ASAIPA).

The National Medical Awards 2024 are presented by ASAIPA, an organisation of which Lindeque and his late father have been members for years.

The award event takes place annually where ASAIPA honours individuals for the contribution they have made to the medical industry in South Africa.

According to ASAIPA, Lindeque will receive the community service award because he is acknowledged for his exemplary leadership qualities that have led to impactful solutions within South Africa’s healthcare system, benefitting both patients and colleagues.

Lindeque was born and grew up in Balfour. In 1988, he obtained his medical degree at the University of Pretoria and did his internship at Tshepong Hospital in Klerksdorp, where he gained experience in surgery and orthopaedics.

His medical journey includes a general practice partnership with his late father, forensic pathology at Heidelberg Mortuary and emergency room care at Life Suikerbosrand Clinic in Heidelberg.

In 2012, he obtained his diploma in occupational health and medicine and has been practising in that field ever since.

In a statement from ASAIPA, they described Lindeque as a doctor who had a great impact on the community over the years and serves several communities with medical assistance in the districts of Balfour and Heidelberg.

He is a modest doctor who lives for his patients and always goes the extra mile without expecting anything in return. He is an icon in Balfour who leaves footprints.
