Devon SAPS reach out to the community

SAPS members discussed different forms of abuse and the process of certifying documents.

Devon SAPS was active in the community over the past few weeks where they conducted various outreach projects.

On March 5, Devon SAPS, with the social prevention and communication co-ordinator Constable Yvone Skosana, GBV Brigades, Thoko Malinga, Modiehi Mosia, Prudence Skweyiya and community patrollers conducted a door-to-door campaign to educate families about the various forms of abuse and femicide.

The community was also sensitised on the importance of getting help. The message was to report any abuse and not attempt to solve it by keeping quiet.

On March 8, SAPS, GBV Brigades, community patrollers, ward councillors, SASSA employees, the Department of Social Development, Lesedi Social Services, Lesedi multi-sector programme, Usizolwethu health promoters, HEAPS, Tswelopele, Bring Hope, COGTA and some bank officials conducted an awareness campaign, covering various topics.

Employees of SASSA informed the public about different grants and how to use bank cards safely.

SAPS members discussed different forms of abuse and the process of certifying documents.

Social workers explained their services with a focus on children and the importance of children knowing their rights.

The information session in Devon was well attended by the community.
