Cambridge FC back to winning ways

Team's bad luck at Vosloorus Stadium comes to an end.

Cambridge Football Club played their league match against Kathorus Juventus at Vosloorus Stadium on February 18.

Cambridge won 2-0.

The stadium has been cruel to Cambridge in the past and they were hoping to break the list of unfavourable results.

The match was played in the midday scorching heat. Cambridge came to Vosloorus with a plan and started strongly.

The first goal was scored by Thebho Mlhanga within the first five minutes.

For the rest of the first half, Cambridge did a lot of attacking and holding onto the ball but could not convert any further goal attempts.

In the second half, Cambridge FC carried on where they left off and attacked the goals on multiple occasions, but failed to find the back of the net.

In the 75th minute Cambridge breached the Juventus defence once again but this time the ball sailed into the net to secure the win. The scorer was Ignatius Nyathi.

Head coach Minhle Cooper Dineka said “I’m not happy with the performance as we wasted a lot of opportunities. There is room for improvement and we need to work on it.

“We are happy for the win, especially here in Vosloorus, as this has not been a good hunting ground for us,” concluded club chairperson Ignatius Maphike.

Cambridge FC’s next match is at home in MacKenzie Park against TS Galaxy Football Club from Tsakani.
