Last minute heartbreak for Cambridge FC

Cambridge FC and 11 Experience FC share the spoils.

Cambridge Football Club welcomed 11 Experience Football Club to MacKenzieville Stadium on February 11 in their Hollywood Bets League match.

The match was important for both teams to move away from the danger zone of possible relegation at the end of the season.

In the beginning, Cambridge did most of the playing and creating scoring opportunities, but the goalpost saved the ball for 11 Experience FC.

The halftime score was 0-0.

In the second half, Cambridge created more opportunities but could not convert any into scoring. However, in the 70th minute, Sechaba Ozil Masangane found the back of the net and opened the scoring for Cambridge.

Thereafter, Cambridge FC player Amogelang Mosala received his second yellow card, was upgraded to a red card and was sent off.

11 Experience FC could break down Cambridge’s defences and scored the equaliser just before the final whistle sounded.

The final score was 1-1.

Cambridge FC coach Minhle Cooper Dineka Mthimkhulu said, “I am proud of the boys. They played their hearts out. However, we have to take our chances if we want to compete.”

Chairperson Ignatius Maphike said, “The loss is a bitter pill to swallow. We have to keep faith in our players, compete better and hope for better results.”
