Cambridge FC improves

The regional soccer league is heating up.

Cambridge Football Club played against the Blue Army of Vosloorus in a regional league match at MacKenzie Stadium in Mackenzie Park on January 28.

Cambridge walked away as the winner with a score of 1-0.

During the first quarter of the first half, the Blue Army played controlled football and held onto possession, making it difficult for Cambridge.

After Cambridge found their feet, they began to control the ball better and played confidently.

The home team scored their goal when Sphiwe Makhubo secured the ball in the back of the net.

In the second half, both teams seemed to creep into their shells and did not want to make a mistake. The Blue Army tried their best to get the equaliser but to no avail.

“I am happy with the win. The three points at home are valuable. The team is still young and will soon find their rhythm soon,“ said coach Minehle Cooper Dikeka.

“I thank the community for coming out in their numbers. This win would not be possible without them. We are calling on local companies to come on board and support this community-based project,” concluded chairperson Ignatius Maphike.

The community came out in their numbers to support the team.
