Cambridge too strong for Joburg City

Cambridge starts moving up on the log.

Cambridge Football Club played against Joburg City at the Greek Sports Club in Bedfordview on January 20.
Cambridge won 1-0.

The match was part of the Hollywood Bets Men’s Regional League. The league is part of the national third division of the South Africa Football Association.

Both teams were at the bottom half of the league when the year started.

As the match kicked off, Joburg City played with more conviction and was the strongest on the pitch. Their chances to score a goal were not converted.

Cambridge Football Club donates soccer kits to Dan Radebe Primary School.

From the 15th minute, Cambridge got more into the match and started to create opportunities. The first goal came in the 40th minute when midfielder Thomas Kgope hit the back of the net.

During the second half, both teams were more tactical and cautious. No further goals were scored in the match.
With the win, Cambridge has moved up to fourth place on the log.

Cambridge FC coach Dineka Cooper is happy with the performance and will take all log points on offer.

Chairperson of Cambridge FC Ignatius Maphike said “ We must build on this victory. We are happy with the win and feel there is room for improvement with this group of young players.“

Cambridge FC recently donated soccer kits to Dan Radebe Primary School to show appreciation for the community and the support they receive from the school and community.

Cambridge FC’s next match is on January 28 at 15:00 against Blue Army from Vosloorus at MacKenzieville Stadium in Nigel.
