Mosia said, “There was a process to identify the correct venue for the gym. A big concern was the safety of the children in the community.

“Another concern was vandalism and that the venue must be fenced off.

“The safety of the community using the equipment’ is a concern for us.”

Dube said, “Exercising and the health factor to everyone using the equipment is becoming the norm everyone wants to do, and this park is what the community needs.”

The gym project started three years ago with planning and then building and constructing the park gym.
Special attention in the construction of the gym is the accessibility to people with disabilities.

While the handover took place, various community members were already waiting to start to use the equipment.
