Initiative to promote unity and harmony

The initiative, driven by the Devon SAPS, aimed to include the community.

The Devon SAPS partnered with various stakeholders to participate in a fun walk against crime on September 29.

SAPS members, Lesedi Traffic, Emergency Medical Services, the Gauteng Department of Health, the Gauteng Department of Sport and Recreation, the councillors for Ward 13, COGTA, patrollers, faith-based organisations and NGOs participated.

There was a 5km and 10km route. Community members of various ages came out to participate in the fun day.

Devon SAPS Vispol commander Warrant Officer Sbongile Ndlela said, “The walk was not only about fighting against crime, but it was also to help people keep fit and have a healthy lifestyle. It also helps to have good relationships among community dwellers because that, on its own, promotes unity and harmony.”
