GEPF day to be held in Heidelberg

The event will be held on October 7 at the Ratanda Multipurpose hall from 08:00 to 16:00.

The Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) will host a GEPF Day for its members, pensioners and beneficiaries in Heidelberg and the surrounding areas of Gauteng.

The event will be on October 7 at the Ratanda Multipurpose Hall from 08:00 to 16:00.

This event forms part of the Fund’s nationwide service delivery, educational and awareness campaigns.

The purpose is to share information about the fund benefits, services and processes targeted at active members, pensioners and beneficiaries, and GEPF members who are about to retire and are within the age group of 55-65, including teachers who are 50 years old or above.

The GEPF is committed to continue using various means of communication to inform, educate and empower its members, making it easy to access services while ensuring that benefit claims are processed effectively.

The biggest challenge the GEPF is currently dealing with is the rising number of unclaimed benefits cases.

Through this awareness campaign, the GEPF aims to reduce these cases while also curbing the prevalence and recurrence of the problem.

Campaigns like the GEPF Day also aimed at safeguarding the financial interests of GEPF members, who often get swindled by unscrupulous financial advisers who prey on unsuspecting beneficiaries. Self-proclaimed ‘brokers’ falsely claim to be representatives of the GEPF and offer to speed up claim processes while demanding a ‘service fee’ where the GEPF services are by law offered for free.
