NIGEL – Gymnasts from Nigel Gymnastics Club recently qualified to compete at the South African Championships in October.
“Ten of our gymnasts did extremely well in the Gauteng competition on August 27,” said coach Charlene Maritz.
“I am extremely proud of them and can’t wait to see how they perform at the SA’s.”
The 10 gymnasts (various age groups and levels) were Amoré Bosch, Alyssa Maritz, Clarize van Schalkwyk, Imé Bronkhorst, Joanika du Plessis, Kaylee de Bruyne, Milan Vorster, Nicke Droskie, René Vogel and Vicky Badenhorst.
“We also received our highest overall placing to date during the Gauteng competition,” said Maritz.
“René Vogel (Level Five) placed first overall and brought home five medals.
“Alyssa Maritz managed to place second overall on the uneven bars.”
