Freedom Recovery Centre holds golf day

The event was well supported.

Freedom Recovery Centre hosted a golf day at Nigel Golf Course on August 11.

The event was labelled Amicos Freedom Recovery Centre Golf Day.

Seventy players participated and enjoyed the day.

Amicos Klippies Steenkamp Insurance Brokers, from Nigel, was the main sponsor of the day.

Other sponsors included Autozone Nigel, Mammas Bakery and NTT VW Heidelberg.

Players from as far as Pretoria, Secunda and Vereeniging participated in the event.

Nico Janse van Vuuren won the prize for the longest drive.

The winners of the day were Chris Steyn and Jeff Westley (52 points). Second was Paul Labuschagne and Victor Gomez (49 points). Nico Janse van Vuuren won the prize for the longest drive.

“We thank the sponsors for your generous contributions,” said Derick Matthews of the Freedom Recovery Centre.
“From the players that supported us, Nigel Golf Course for assisting us with the golf day, and everyone else that contributed to the success of this day.

“The funds generated at this golf day will be used towards building a new tuck shop at our main centre.”

First place winners Jeff Westley and Chris Steyn, Keamo van der Merwe (Freedom Recovery Centre board member) and Marco Arcidiacono (financial manager Freedom Recovery Centre).

This facility provides in-patient programmes for 52 residents wishing to break free from the grips of addiction.
As the need for rehabilitation is so big, this facility would like to expand soon.

“Our next fundraising event will be on November 11 at Barnyard Theatre Emperors Palace,” concluded Matthews.
