Reservoirs running empty

Water is depleted in Heidelberg.

Heidelberg is experiencing water shortages again.

Despite various attempts to get feedback from Rand Water on the water issues, no answers are forthcoming.

Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM) has also tried to get answers from Rand Water, with no success.

Rensburg, Heidelberg has been hit the worst in recent times. Rensburg residents have been without water for days.

LLM is doing its best to repair burst pipes in the area.

To make matters worse, the infrastructure is not holding up as well regarding water pipes.

As soon as one pipe is repaired, a different part springs a leak.

The intake from Selcourt into Heidelberg’s reservoirs is supposed to be 550 to 600kPa but is at present below 100kPa, as confirmed by LLM.

There are reports that apart from Rensburg, Heidelberg and Bergsig residents have also reported low to no water.
Reports came to light that Jameson Park was affected as well.

The orange indicator at Kloof Reservoir in Heidelberg shows how low the water levels are.

Further reports show that as far as Secunda and Delmas, the reservoirs are also running empty.

Water trucks and boreholes are available at various points in Heidelberg to assist in the water crisis.

They urged residents who have water to use it sparingly.
