Nigel’s junior gymnasts stand out

The gymnasts all qualified for their colours during the Ekurhuleni district qualifier.

On May 6, various junior gymnasts (levels one to three) from the Nigel Gymnastics Club, competed at the Ekurhuleni district qualifier.

Over 200 gymnasts from across Ekurhuleni participated in the qualifier.

“All of the Nigel Gymnastics gymnasts qualified for their colours,” said coach Charlene Maritz.

“This year was a new challenge as the gymnasts had to perform a completely new set of routines where gymnasts, coaches and judges had to get into all the big changes but our gymnasts handled it like the champs they are.”

Medals were awarded to the following gymnasts:

• Gold:

Neveah Allner and Leandri Pieters.

• Silver:

Mieke Esterhuizen, Reuben Du Toit, Alroche Barnardo, Zanell Nell, Rone Loxton, Amy-Lou Pretorius, Sinentokozo Mpulo, Zelincha Grobler and Anika van Rooyen.

• Bronze:

Lorinda Bosch, Rodey Senekal, Dahlia Dias, Megan Willemse, Anushka Van Wyk, Rebekka Pretorius, Laure Pistorius, Carli Pieters, Michelle Britz, Chrisri Meyer, Zander Maritz, Kian Hendricks, Joanie Du Preez and Leah Cronk.

The gymnasts will go on to compete at the Gauteng Zone Competition that will be held in June in Pretoria.
