Heidelberg Village to be a reality in 2024
The development will house a Food Lovers Market, a first in Heidelberg and the surrounding area.
The planned lifestyle development, also known as the Heidelberg Village, is situated on Groenfontein Road and is set to be opened in the second half of 2024.
“The Heidelberg Village will be a convenience retail centre,” said Vicus Bouwer, managing member of Tressco Real Estate Services and Solutions.
“It is designed by the world-renowned SVA International and jointly developed by a local developer and Gauteng-based, Soho Properties.
“The development will cater for the families of Heidelberg and surrounding areas and forms part of a planned mix-use development that will consist of a gated residential community and a retirement village, among other things.”
Construction on the project is set to start in the second half of this year.
“Our research indicates that nearly 20% of Heidelberg’s customers originate from outside of the town,” Bouwer explained.
“It is expected that once this development is completed the inflow figures will increase.”
The Heidelberg Village will house 33 stores, which includes a Food Lovers Market.
Residents can look forward to a variety of restaurants, homeware and DIY and other speciality shops that are not operating in the area.
“There is keen interest from various franchise brands to be part of the development, which offers substantial business opportunities for the community,” Bouwer said.
“It’s estimated that the development will create 300 jobs during construction and that employment will be boosted by up to 150 permanent jobs once fully operational.”
According to Bouwer, a dedicated solar plant will ensure that the ongoing electricity crisis will not impact the businesses and customers of Heidelberg Village.
The development will give preference to local service providers and suppliers to ensure that the community of Heidelberg remains the ultimate beneficiary of this development.
“A fundamental component of the long-term vision of Heidelberg Village is that it becomes the pre-eminent focal point for the community of Heidelberg and its environs,” Bouwer said in conclusion.
