Municipal electrician injured after attending to a cable fault

Shocked while repairing an electrical cable.

On January 11, an electrician from Lesedi Local Municipality was injured while attending to an electrical cable fault at a mini substation in Frazer Street.

Two witnesses said, “While he was working on the power issue we heard a loud bang and saw the LLM worker fall to the ground. The electrician jumped up immediately. We saw there were burns on his body and arms.”

The injured worker transported himself to the hospital to be treated.

Ward Eight Clr Mirna Mulder confirmed the incident and said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.

The mini substation was not damaged.
