Students from the local dance studio Felicia’s Fitness and Dance Studio (FFDS) excelled in recent exams.
The hip-hop dancing exams were held in September.
Level one dancers Leila van der Merwe, Milla Meyer and Mila van Zyl did exceptionally well and scored all above 80%.
Level two dancers Mia-May Grobler, Ninke van der Merwe and Lia Els earned above 80%. Jeanri du Plessis, Juané van Zyl, Nevey Gildenhuys and Shantelize Schoeman earned well above the 90% mark.
Level three dancers Jessica Potgieter, Ruben Basson and Marli Heydenrych all achieved above 80%.
On October 22 – 29, FFDS dancers participated in the South African Dance School Championships.
The age groups started at six. The dancers could enter two sections of the competition.
Special awards in the festival division were awarded to dancers from FFDS in various sections: Jeanri du Plessis (ballet), Leila van der Merwe, Mila van Zyl, Milla Meyer with ZAZA, and Annemi Botha and Lia Els (You are my sunshine duet).
The top places for FFDS in the championship division were:
First place: Jeanri du Plessis, Juané van Zyl, Nevey Gildenhuys and Shantelize Schoeman (tick tick hip-hop).
Second place: Limari and Jane Ernst (Broken and Beautiful), Jeanri and Liane du Plessis and Megan Marais (Choose), Jeanri du Plessis and Juané van Zyl (hip-hop).
Third Place: Jolene Grobler, Ruben Basson and Marli Heydenrych (hip-hop). Jessica Potgieter, Liane, and Jeanri du Plessis, Jolene Grobler, Shantelize Schoeman, Marli Heydenrych (lyrical dance).
Fifth place: Jessica Potgieter and Liane du Plessis (Burspress, Jazz Show).
