Police gear up for 16 Days Of Activism campaign

Heidelberg SAPS visits LCC.

Heidelberg SAPS Social Crime Prevention Constable Doris Nkosi and domestic violence coordinator Sergeant Makgoba Moila visited Lesedi Community Centre as part of the 16 Days Of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign on November 16.

The 16 days of activism campaign runs from November 25 to December 10.

The aim is to sensitise people about their rights and how to avoid domestic-related issues.

The community members were also educated on how to work with law enforcement stakeholders to prevent criminal activities.

More information was shared about violence against women and children.

The visit opened with a prayer.

“There is an understanding that people who live at the centre have limited resources to see what happens in the outside world and visiting them in the centres is a way to spread the message,” said Nkosi.

Heidelberg SAPS will continue to visit other places during this time of year to share information about the campaign.

“As SAPS we say no to violence against women and children. We will continue to give victims of GBV the necessary support,” concluded Nkosi.
