Life Suikerbosrand Hospital, Heidelberg, received a top award from the Life Group of Hospitals.
The awards ceremony took place on November 2 in Sandton at the Performance Gala Event. Life Suikerbosrand scooped the award for the best engineering team in South Africa.
The team consists of operational engineering manager Malehlohono Mtasi, clinical engineering manager Rudzani Ramabulana, artisan Phehello Lebitso, artisan assistant Kamohelo Motatsi, maintenance Nobuhle Zule, and junior clinical engineer Joseph Maswanganye.
Operational engineering manager Malehlohono Mtasi said, “We are a team that compliments each other. We are like cogs in a wheel. Each one has its purpose and together we are a well-oiled unit.”
Hospital manager Kubashnee Naidoo said, “We are so proud of what the team has accomplished the past year. It points to teamwork, trusting each other and working as an awesome team.
“The team has only been working together for the past year and to achieve success is truly a great success story in itself.”
Some of the accomplishments and projects the team worked on and on which they were judged were sustainability (electrical and power issues) and reliability (lifesaving devices, oxygen, heart machines).
“Being recognised for hard work is satisfying and we hope it will encourage others to work hard to achieve their goals and ambitions,” concluded Naidoo.
