Cambridge FC wins again

Cambridge FC played defeated Kempton Park FC on October 15.

Cambridge FC played host to Kempton Park FC on October 15 at the Mackenzieville Stadium.

The match between the two teams was the opening fixture of the Ekurhuleni Men’s Regional League for the 2022/23 season.

“The match was played under very windy conditions but that didn’t stop the community from coming out to support the players,” said chairperson Ignatius Maphike.

“The home team started the game off strong, even with the weather conditions of the day.”

Despite the windy conditions, the Cambridge team managed two goals, ending the first half of the match with a score of 2-0.

During the second half of the match, Nthokozo “Barker” Ntsibande managed to turn up the heat by scoring a third goal.

Wayne “Dou” Mathle scored a penalty goal for his team soon after, making the score 4-0 for Cambridge.
In the later stages of the match, Kempton Park FC managed a goal but Cambridge substitute, Augustin “Gusty” Leonard retaliated with another goal for his team.

The match ended with a final score of 5-1 for Cambridge FC.

“It was a good opening match and we hope that we can keep the momentum,” said Cambridge coach Godfrey Hermanus.

“We are happy with the three points the match brought us,” said Maphike in conclusion.

“We would also like to thank the community for their ongoing support.”
