Service delivery problems in the Heidelberg area

Non delivery of essential services affected.

Service delivery in the Heidelberg area is non-existence at the moment.

For the past two weeks, the rubbish has not been removed in Rensburg with rubbish bags piling up.

Vagrants are scratching through the bags and leaving rubbish lying everywhere and not cleaning up behind them.

In Walker Street, there is water running freely. Residents of Rensburg have reported the water issue.

When the resident phoned to report the problem, the call centre agent said that a reference number can’t be supplied due to the fact that they are offline.

Up to date, no one from the municipality has come out to attend to the problem.

There are reports that the issue is possible that the municipality does not have enough diesel for their vehicles to be operational.

The municipal manager S’Busiso Dlamini of Lesedi Local Municipality issued a statement:

Due to the non-payment of essential services from residents, the service delivery in the area will be affected.
That includes water problems, electrical outages, refuse removal and other essential services.

The request is made for everyone that is behind with their municipal accounts to contact the municipalities credit control department as soon as possible to make arrangements.

Non-payment for services will affect all residents and incapacitate the municipality to fulfill its service delivery mandate.

Non-payment of services has serious consequences for the delivery of services. It results in the Municipality experiencing cash flow constraints.
