Visit a customer care centre to apply for indigent status
Ekurhuleni residents who qualify are urged to apply.
The City of Ekurhuleni invites indigent residents to apply for registration on the indigent database for free basic services.
Applications can be made at the city’s customer care centres.
The verification process for indigent assistance requires the following documents:
Pensioners:
• ID copy of the applicant
• ID copy of spouse if applicable
• ID/birth certificate copies of dependents who reside on the property if there are any
• Latest municipal account statement
• SASSA pension statement of the applicant and their spouse, if applicable
• Affidavits from all unemployed household residents over the age of 18 or proof of registration if they are full-time students.
Unemployed persons
• ID of the applicant
• ID copy of spouse if applicable
• ID/birth certificate copies of dependents who reside on the property, if applicable
• Latest municipal account statement
• Affidavits from all unemployed household residents over the age of 18 or proof of registration if they are full-time students.
Employed persons
• ID of the applicant
• ID copy of spouse if applicable
• ID/birth certificate copies of dependents who reside on the property, if applicable
• Latest municipal account statement
• Latest pay slip or formal letter from employer
• Three (3) months bank statement
• Affidavits from all unemployed household residents over the age of 18 or proof of registration if they are full-time students.
