The Heidelberg SAPS was conducting a routine patrol when they received a notification of a business robbery in progress just outside Heidelberg.
Back-up was requested from the Crime Prevention Unit.
Upon arrival, the Heidelberg SAPS and role players cornered eight suspects trying to rob a business on Lagerspoort Road of beverages.
The beverages were being loaded into one of the suspect’s trucks. Some other suspects fled the scene.
The Heidelberg SAPS discovered three firearms, three magazines, dummy rounds and live ammunition on the suspects.
One of the firearms belongs to the company.
Eight suspects were arrested and will appear in the Heidelberg Magistrate’s Court on various charges that include business robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms with ammunition.
The suspects, all foreign nationals, were detained at the Heidelberg Police Station.
