Crime clean-up operation in Heidelberg CBD

Police and other stakeholders out in full force ahead of Black Friday.

Heidelberg SAPS conducted a ‘mop and sweep’ operation on November 22 in and around the Heidelberg CBD in preparation for Black Friday.

Various law enforcement stakeholders assisted in the operation. This included the CPF patrollers, Siyabangena patrollers and Crime Prevention Wardens.

Various ATMs, banks, shops, petrol stations, shopping malls and taxi ranks were visited during the operation.
During the operation, there were three arrests made for undocumented persons.

Several knives, illegal cigarettes and alcohol were confiscated.

Alcohol was confiscated.

Pamphlets were also handed out on substance abuse, alcohol abuse, illegal immigrants, fraud, road safety and second-hand goods.

Social Crime Prevention co-ordinator Constable Doris Nkosi said, “We need more boots on the ground to clean the streets from crime and criminal activities and to ensure the community’s safety.”
