Quick reaction leads to arrests

Fuel theft leads to hijacking arrests.

Dunnottar SAPS members attached to the Crime Prevention Unit conducted vehicle patrols on September 14.

A CPF member relayed information about the occupants of a vehicle who did not pay for the fuel put into it the previous evening on Nigel Road.

The Crime Prevention members followed the suspected vehicle and its two occupants. The members arrested them for fuel theft and took them to the Dunnottar SAPS.

Further investigations showed the vehicle was hijacked in Lenasia last month.

The SAPS further charged the two occupants with possession of a suspected hijacked vehicle. They will remain in custody until their court appearance.

Investigations continue, and the SAPS could add more counts to the charge sheet.
