Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM) electrical department employees and Eskom workers were robbed of their belongings on May 10.
They were working near Ice Cold Bodies in the Heidelberg Industrial area on the day.
A group of robbers appeared from the long grass on the gravel road on End and Benz streets while the employees were repairing a cable.
They threatened the employees at gunpoint and the robbers demanded their money and cellphones.
Initially, the workers and contractors refused, and the robbers fired a shot. They again demanded money and cellphones.
They robbed all the electrical workers before disappearing back into the long grass. Security officials arrive on the scene shortly afterwards.
The victims went to the Heidelberg SAPS to open a case of armed robbery.
No injuries were reported. Heidelberg SAPS is investigating.
