Heidelberg Bowling Club has fallen victim to criminals.
On February 3, intruders broke into the club in the early hours of the morning.
They gained entrance by breaking the palisade fencing. The criminals moved to the back of the clubhouse where they broke a window and a door panel. They ransacked the bar storeroom and the adjacent room.
A wall between the storeroom and the safe was broken down and alcohol and money were removed from the safe.
According to management, the robbery could have happened during load-shedding. It was also later established the intruders ripped out the alarm system.
A case was opened at Heidelberg SAPS.
