A case of murder was opened at Ratanda SAPS on December 9.
Ratanda SAP received a complaint of assault in Denne Avenue, Ratanda.
When the police arrived on the scene they found a 47-year-old woman with visible injuries to her throat and body. Emergency services declared her dead at the scene.
Her 17-year-old son was a witness to the crime and said that two men jumped over their fence and entered the house.
They allegedly had a fight with the woman at the kitchen entrance and one of the men stabbed her in her throat.
As her son came to her defence, he was stabbed in his shoulder. When he screamed for assistance, the attackers ran away.
The community managed to catch one of them and he was handed over to the Ratanda SAPS members at the scene. He will appear in court soon.
