Store robbed at closing time

Perpetrators forced their way inside the store.

Investigations are underway after MTN Heidelberg Mall was robbed on November 26.

At 17:00, a staff member was closing the store when a woman asked for assistance.

The staff member told the woman the store was closed for the day.

A man arrived, pushed the door open and forced himself together with the woman and three more accomplices into the shop.

The four shop employees were taken to the back of the shop and instructed to stay there.

The store manager was instructed to open the time delay safe.

The safe took a while to open and the manager was hit on her head with a firearm.

When the safe eventually opened the contents were cleaned out. This included 60 cellphones, two laptops, R200 cash and four internet routers. The perpetrators are still at large.

A case has been opened at the police station and investigations are underway.

Anyone with information on the robbery or any other criminal activity is urged to contact the nearest SAPS immediately.
