Hawks officer shot and killed in Duduza

Moalusi family wants the killers brought to book.

Duduza- The family of the slain Hawks police officer Warrant Officer Mosekiemang Moalusi are demanding justice for him.

The 59-year-old officer was shot and killed last week at a car wash in Duduza.

It is alleged the officer had left his car at a car wash and went to join his friends at a jazz event close by.

At about 20:00 he can be seen on CCTV footage walking towards his car. An unidentified man was running in his direction, opening fire multiple times.

The perpetrators fled the scene in Moalusi’s car, his service firearm and cellphones.

The car was found abandoned in Duduza.

Moalusi managed to run to a nearby house for cover where he told the family he had been shot before he died. He was certified dead on the scene.

Moalusi’s wife, Kenalemang Moalusi said she wants the killers to be arrested and face the law for killing her husband.

“Why did they have to kill him if they wanted the car or service firearm? Why didn’t they just take them and leave without shooting him? “I am pleading to his colleagues to hunt down the suspects and ensure that my husband gets justice,” she added.

Moalusi served 42 years as a police officer. He was remembered by his family and colleagues as a hard-working officer, dedicated to fighting crime.

He was laid to rest on Saturday in an official state funeral.

Hawks spokesperson Captain Lloyd Ramovha said the suspects are still at large and investigations are still underway.

“We are urging anyone with information about the suspects and their whereabouts to come forward,” he added.
