Hefty sentence for business burglar

The investigation was led by Detective Sergeant Lawrence Radebe of the Duduza SAPS.

28-year-old Lucky Khasambe was sentenced to seven years direct imprisonment by the Nigel Magistrate’s Court on October 28.

The sentencing was handed down after Khasambe was found guilty of breaking in and theft from several businesses including liquor outlets.

Khasambe was convicted on four counts of burglary, including one at the Plateau Pub and Grill.

The investigation that led to the successful sentencing was spearheaded by Detective Sergeant Lawrence Radebe of the Duduza SAPS.

Duduza SAPS station commander Lieutenant Colonel Sarah Mofokeng applauded the good work done by all members involved in the case.

“I strongly believe that the conviction will send a strong message to other criminals in the area and bring down burglary and other property crimes,” she said.
