Hard work leads to conviction

The investigation was led by Warrant Officer William Wilkinson and led to a successful conviction.

Modike Kenneth Mameje (33) was recently sentenced to life imprisonment by the Nigel Magistrate’s Court.

Mameje was arrested in July 2020 after he struck a woman on Delmas Road whilst driving a truck. The victim died on the scene.

The case against Mameje was led by Warrant Officer William Wilkinson of the Nigel SAPS.

Nigel SAPS station commander Lieutenant Colonel Senzangakhona Mohale praised the diligent work done by Wilkinson to secure the successful conviction.

Mameje was sentenced to life imprisonment for premeditated murder, 10 years for attempted murder and one year and three months for an infringement of the National Road Traffic Act.

Mameje was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
