Six nabbed at roadblock for illegal guns

The suspects were nabbed for possession of unlicenced firearms.

A roadblock conducted by Devon SAPS on September 11 resulted in multiple arrests.

During the search of one vehicle, Sergeant Amos Skosana and Constable Thabo Maseko found two firearms, ammunition and a pair of gloves. One of the firearms was loaded with five rounds.

Skosana asked the driver and five passengers about the firearms but the answers were not consistent.

Skosana and Maseko arrested the suspects and escorted them to Devon SAPS.

The suspects’ ages range from 32 to 48.

They will appear in the Nigel Magistrate Court soon on a charge of possession of unlicensed firearms.
Other arrests made during the roadblock include one for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for possession of drugs and one for rape.

Four traffic fines were issued.

Devon SAPS station commander Captain Thokozile Ndou applauded the members for their excellent work. She further emphasised that thorough searches yield positive results.
