Residents invited to comment on city’s budget and IDP

The meeting for Nigel residents is scheduled for April 15.

NIGEL – The CoE invites the public to a series of Integrated Development and Planning (IDP) and budget consultative meetings from April 9 to 19.

The meetings will take place across the city to allow everyone to make inputs and comments on the draft reviewed (IDP) for 2024/25 and the draft Multiyear Budget 2024/25 – 2026/2027.

The meeting for Nigel residents will be at 18:30 on April 15 in Mackenzie Hall. The draft IDP and budget documents are also available for viewing on the city‘s website: www.ekurhuleni.gov.za Email your comments and suggestions to budgettips@ekurhuleni.gov.za

“The city appeals to the public to seize the opportunity and constructively contribute to the formulation of these important documents that guide the metro’s development and service delivery agenda,” says city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

He says the meetings are scheduled for the evenings to accommodate many people, including the working class and students.

The IDP is a process through which municipalities prepare a strategic development plan which extends over five years.

In terms of the Municipal Systems Act, Act 32 of 2000, all municipalities have to undertake an IDP process to produce IDPs. During its five-year life cycle, the IDP is reviewed and updated annually.

The annual budget provides the Medium-Term Revenue and Expenditure Framework (MTREF), which sets out the financial path for the coming three years.

The closing date for comments is April 19.
