Water problems slowly being resolved

The dry reservoirs in Heidelberg are a big concern.

HEIDELBERG – After three weeks of water-related issues, the residents of Heidelberg are relieved that the water pressure in town is slowly returning to normal.

On March 24, the Lesedi Local Municipality (LLM) issued a statement to confirm this.

“The LLM and Rand Water have established a temporary relief of water supply to the Lesedi Municipality,” the LLM said in the statement.

All the affected areas in the LLM slowly began receiving water again on March 24. At this stage, it is unclear why the resolution to the problem is temporary.

The LLM urged residents to boil the water before they use it because the reservoirs were empty and to use water sparingly.

“The municipality regrets the inconvenience to all affected residents,” the statement said.

“We appreciate your patience throughout this difficult time.”

There is a possibility the water issue could resurface this week. Rand Water must investigate where the problems are, and that could take some time.

Residents would be advised to prepare for the eventuality.
