Water runs dry in Heidelberg

Heidelberg's water problems are not resolved.

Heidelberg’s water problems are still not resolved.

The latest from Lesedi Local Municipality and Rand Water indicates that the systems are not fully recovered due to a failure at the Zuikerbos Water Treatment plant.

The issue has affected all the systems. The pipeline network took a strain and the pumping has not recovered sufficiently.

Rand Water is struggling to fill the reservoirs. They are apparently also struggling to purify the water fast enough to be pumped back into the pipelines.

The majority of Heidelberg is now without water with the residents becoming fed up with the problems.
Water is something needed daily and being without it hampers many different aspects of our lives.

There are good Samaritans and farmers in the area that are providing water at strategic places for the residents to collect water in containers.

There are water points in Heidelberg CBD, Rensburg, Bergsig and Heidelberg Golf Club.
Without that the town’s folks would have been up in arms.

When collecting water, use it sparingly. There is no indication when the water from Rand Water will be available.
Indications are it will take a long time.
