Gauteng High Court’s ruling overturns illegal council meeting

Executive Mayor Tania Campbell welcomes the high court ruling overturning an illegal council meeting.

The office of the mayor welcomes the Gauteng High Court ruling overturning the illegal council meeting on February 2, which resulted in the ousting of the speaker Raymond Dhlamini.

“Now that the court has overturned the illegal outcomes of February 2, it is crucial that all political parties represented in council put residents first and allow the processes of the council to take place at the next council meeting,” explained Warren Gwilt, the spokesperson for the mayor.

He said the urgent business of the council, which was stalled on two occasions, will bring much relief to residents of the City, chief among them the adjustment budget for much-needed service delivery.
