Try to stick to your new year’s resolutions

For some they regard a new year as a dawn of a new era. We all do, don’t we?

DURING this time of the year we often hear people talking about New Year’s resolutions.

People start making lists of things they hope and wish to accomplish during the course of the following year. As a new year approaches that means a different promise of a lot of different things for a lot of different people.

Some have their hopes set on new career ventures, a better love life, and a brighter future. For some, they regard a new year as a dawn of a new era. We all do, don’t we?

The misconception about New Year’s resolution is that it never works but that’s acceptable for those who have tried to practise it but they did not tick off everything they had on their New Year resolutions list.

You do not have to make a dramatic and gigantic list. Just keep it simple and workable for you. Well, there are those typical or common resolutions that are made by people every year. Resolutions like losing weight, going to the gym and eating healthy. It’s really okay to still make those common resolutions as your New Year’s resolutions.

Below are the tips you can consider when jotting down your 2019 New Year resolutions. But before starting to jot down anything, the first thing to remember is that “your resolutions do not have an expiry date”.

Tips for your list:

1. Keep a journal that makes it easy for you to write your resolutions down – it will also help you to tick those off from the list as you achieve your resolutions.

2. Be realistic and committed to your resolutions.

3. Be optimistic.

4. Be organised about your resolutions.

5. Don’t settle for the bare minimum.

6. Your resolutions should beattainable – Do not be hasty.

7. Try something new.

8. Get out of your comfort zone.

9. Resolutions do not have to leave you strapped for cash – don’t make expensive resolutions.

10. Take each resolution one step at a time.

Remember, if you did not tick off every resolution you have on your list, try again in the following year because life is all about trying, not throwing in the towel.
