The festive season is a time when most people spend their money. Here are a few tips to keep you and your money safe.
• Avoid carrying large amounts of money.
• Do internet transfers or use mobile banking options if you want to send money to loved ones.
• Where you can, shop online from reputable websites.
• Rather swipe at the till for your purchases.
• Remember you can also withdraw money at the till. For most banks, it’s cheaper than using the ATM.
• If you must go to the bank for a withdrawal, go with someone you trust.
• Always keep your PIN a secret and cover the buttons when entering your PIN at the ATM.
• Avoid going to withdraw money after hours, as some ATMs may be dark and you are an easy target for thieves.
• Do not accept any help at the ATM. Rather call a bank employee to assist you or the security guard.
• On the drive home, be on the lookout for anybody who is following you
