Electricity issues plague Heidelberg

Lesedi Electrical Department to implement their own load-shedding.

The power issues that Heidelberg is currently experiencing seems to be a huge issue to repair.

The latest reports indicate that of the three transformers serving the Heidelberg area, only one can deliver electricity at the current stage.

The transformer still working will serve different parts of Heidelberg at different times.

Katleho Seaga, the spokesperson for the Lesedi Local Municipality, confirmed that the electrical department has decided to implement its own form of load-shedding to alleviate the workload on the transformer and ensure that all residents can get some electricity during the period.

Seaga sent out a statement concerning the electricity issues saying they are in constant communication with Eskom to be kept up to date on the progress.

Seaga said, “Everyone will be able to have an electrical supply for a certain time of the day.”

According to the Lesedi Electrical Department, to protect the one transformer that is currently in operation, the electricity will be switched to industrial areas during the day from 06:00 to 18:00 and residential use from 18:00 to 06:00.

All electrical points need to be considered live at all times.
