Delay in opening of swimming pools

Work is underway to ensure the pools are reopened soon.

The opening of the swimming pools in the City of Ekurhuleni will no longer take place as expected on September 1 due to unforeseen circumstances.

Normally the city’s pools close for the winter season and reopen on the first day of September to coincide with Spring Day.

The city is committed to creating a healthy and safe swimming and recreational environment for all users.

In this regard, the city will endeavour to ensure that the water quality of all municipal pools is compliant with the safety standards set by Life Saving SA and the aquatics regulatory authorities.

The Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture is working around the clock to ensure that the pools are reopened as soon as possible.

The exact reopening dates will be communicated to the public in due course.

The Boksburg Swimming Pool is, however, available for swimming galas upon special arrangements.

For further information in this regard, the public can contact the operations division of the Department of Sports on 011 999 7938.
