Women in EMPD commended for making Ekurhuleni a safe place

Women law enforcement officers were recognised for their contribution.

MMC for Community Safety Letlhogonolo Moseki has praised women law enforcement officers for their contribution to making Ekurhuleni a safe place.

Moseki was speaking during the launch of the EMPD’s Women’s Month programme at a women-led roadblock on the N17 on Thursday.

The operation yielded R40 000 from motorists who had outstanding traffic fines that have escalated to warrants of arrest.

The roadblock comprised more than 100 female officers from the EMPD, Gauteng Traffic Police and SAPS.
A total of 1 159 vehicles were stopped and 900 persons searched.

The women-led roadblocks are expected to continue throughout August.
