Duduza SAPS engage with community

Members of the Duduza SAPS engaged with families affected by the use of drugs.

On July 15, members of the Duduza SAPS and SANCA held a parental engagement for drug rehabilitation.

The engagement was for parents and family members of those currently going through drug rehabilitation or have already completed it.

The engagement was also part of SANCA’s role in parental involvement and the reintegration of recovered drug users into society.

SANCA representatives insist that parental involvement plays an important role in the journey to recovery and towards reducing drug and substance abuse.

Speaking at the opening of the session, Duduza SAPS acting station commander Captain Petrus Mabuza urged parents and family members to continue supporting affected families.

“Do not lose hope on the road to recovery,” Mabuza said.

Mabuza also noted that police members will continue to act strongly on offences involving alcohol and drugs.

He called upon families to allow their loved ones to embark on programmes that would lead to recovery.

This engagement forms part of many programmes under the Local Drug Action Community of Nigel and Duduza based on the district drug master plan.

More of such events will be hosted monthly on a Friday.
