Woman shot and killed in Nigel

The victim was found with a gunshot wound to her upper body outside a local store.

A woman was shot and killed on the corner of First Avenue and Breytenbach Street yesterday (July 12) at around 09:15.

Upon arrival, Nigel SAPS found the victim with a gunshot wound to her upper body.

According to the station’s communications officer Sergeant Neliswa Dwaba, the victim went to a store intending to get boxes for recycling purposes.

“The person who assisted her at the store said they were collecting boxes behind the store,” Dwaba said in a statement.

“He went to collect more boxes while the victim packed some boxes into a recycling bag. The man then heard gunshots and when he rushed back to where he left the victim he found her lying on the floor bleeding.”

The motive for the shooting is still unknown and no arrests have been made at this stage.
