LLM Mayor Mluleki Nkosi opened the event.

“I am going to dispel the myth and stereotypes about men. It is often expected by society that men do not cry, do not feel pain and tigers don’t cry,” said Nkosi.

“We need to be sensitive and be someone the community can depend on.”

Khulu Mnguni of Lesedi Multi-Sector Programmes said, “It cannot be emphasised enough that we as men need to be a pillar of strength to the community.”

Commumity members listen to the mayor’s speech.

There were also submissions on sexually transmitted diseases and infections, men’s health by ANOVA Health Institute, GBV by NACOSA and substance abuse by SANCA.

The event ended with a question and answer session. There was also an opportunity to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases and safe sex products were distributed.
