Lesedi Skills Labour Forum receives donation

Renttech SA partnered up with the Lesedi Skills Labour Forum in order to take on some of the issues of youth and skills development in the community.

Renttech SA partnered with the Lesedi Skills Labour Forum this Youth Month, to take on some of the issues of youth and skills development in the community.

The partnership also aims to reduce the various unemployment challenges currently affecting communities in the Lesedi area.

The Lesedi Skills Labour Forum was formed in 2020 by six artisans and one safety officer.

“We saw the problem of work stoppages on the construction sites,” said Thys Moloi from the Labour Forum in a statement. “Because of frustrated community members who cannot be employed because of unskilled situations and those job opportunities given to people outside Lesedi Municipality.”

The forum collected data from the people in the community and realised that the Lesedi region needs more artisans.

They then approached various businesses in the private sector to assist with funding.

Moloi Thys, the managing director of the Lesedi Skills Labour Forum and Toni Siyabulela (skills development coordinator) testing out the donated PPE.

“South Africa is a youthful nation, its youth population makes up 35.7% of the country’s total population of approximately 57.7 million people,” Nanini Mshayisa, marketing and communication specialist for Renttech said in a statement. “This is an advantage for SA because it means there are a lot of potential workers for the future that can work to build and maintain a healthy economy.

“Unfortunately, our reality is far from ideal with the skyrocketing number of unemployed youth being of great concern.

“Renttech SA believes that investing in the youth means investing in the leaders of tomorrow.

“Therefore, building a relationship with Lesedi Skills Labour Forum by making a monetary donation and donating power tools and PPE to the value of R41 467.78 was imperative.”

The donation will enable the Lesedi Skills Labour Forum to continue in its assignment of developing the youth to eradicate youth unemployment.
