Vandalised Gravett Substation being rebuilt
The affected residents should have their power restored by Sunday.
Eskom has said in their latest statement on June 2 that efforts to rebuild the Gravett Substation in Nigel are underway.
They also indicated that the power supply to the affected areas, small business customers and residents in the Driemanskap plots, Glenroy farms, Rooikraal and Suikerbosrand should be restored by June 5.
The substation was vandalised on May 28, according to Eskom.
Eskom in Gauteng has also observed, with concern, the increasing number of incidents of electricity infrastructure vandalism across the province.
Eskom’s opinion is that these criminal acts do not only impact the economy but also come at an exorbitant financial cost to repair, replace or rebuild the vandalised equipment.
