Baby critical, mom seriously injured following collision
Two other people were injured in the accident.
A baby girl is in a critical condition and her mother has suffered serious injuries after a collision of their light motor vehicle with a bakkie on the R550 outside Nigel this morning (Wednesday).
ER24 paramedics were on the scene at 06:17, along with the fire department, the metro police and the SAPS.
“The baby girl, who was flung from the vehicle, was found on the ground in a critical condition. Her mother, entrapped in the vehicle, was in a serious condition,” said ER24 spokesperson Ross Campbell.
“Both were treated with advanced life support interventions to stabilise their conditions.”
The fire department extracted the mother from the wreck, and both were taken to hospital for further treatment.
Two men from the bakkie have suffered minor injuries and were treated and transported to hospital.
