Little learners impress with their maths, spelling and reading skills

Learners from Alra Park Primary school took part in the event with great excitement.

Alra Park Primary School recently held a readathon, spellathon and mental maths event.

Learners from Grades One to Three took part in the event by reciting poems, spelling words and reading for their fellow learners.

Grade R learners also took part in the event by dressing up in maths costumes. The learners who took part in the event were graded and the winners received prizes.

The top learners for each event are:

• Reading

Lenique George (left), Ivana Isaks and Eltonique van Wyk won the Grade Three spelling event.

Grade One: Dakalo Ratshivhadelo (first), Silindokuhle Zwane (second) and Leilani Bekker (third).

Grade Two: Kalliah Dinjana (first), Razia Banoo (second) and Lutricia Maree (third).

Grade Three: Mpho Msibi (first), Eltonique van Wyk (second) and Lenique George (third).

Grade Three (Afrikaans reading): Mia Olyn (first).

• Spelling

The Grade Three Afrikaans spelling winners were Je’tham Klein (left, first) and Kiana Jacobs (second)

Grade One: Isabella Ismail (first), Leilani Bekker (second) and Silindokuhle Zwane (third).

Grade Two: Amahle Mlambo (first), Razia Banoo (second) and Zibusiso Nsobela (third).

Grade Three: Ivana Isaks (first), Lenique George (second) and Eltonique van Wyk (third).

Grade Three (Afrikaans spelling): Je’tham Klein (first) and Kiana Jacobs (second).

• Mental maths

Kalliah Dinjana (Grade Two) won first place for reading.

Grade Three: Ashton Parsons (first), Tina Martins (second) and Bryce Louw (third).

Grade Three (Afrikaans): Ju-Nayden Du Preez (first).
