Police arrested a man in Alra Park on April 22 after police and paramedics responded to a report of a person lying in the street.
The woman, who was certified dead on the scene, was found with stab wounds to her upper body.
The preliminary investigation by police led to a house where a man, who is known to be the deceased’s boyfriend, was found in a room with blood-stained clothes.
He was immediately arrested to face a charge of murder.
Speaking after the arrest, Nigel SAPS station commander Lt-Col Senzangakhona Mohale said, “We are saddened by yet another senseless killing of a woman in our country, especially in the backdrop of the latest crime statistics which indicate an upward trajectory with regards to offences relating to GBV. We condemn this in the strongest terms.”
The man is expected to appear in court during next week.
