Cambridge FC tie in latest match

Cambridge FC travelled to Germiston to face the Luso Africa team.

Cambridge FC faced the Luso Africa team in Germiston on March 5.

Both teams have 28 points on the log.

“It was a very anticipated game,” said coach and chairperson of the team Ignatius Maphike.

“Both teams want to stay in the race for that mini play-off spot.”

Cambridge started the match on the back foot, conceding early when the opposing team went in on the offence.
Luso Africa scored the first goal of the match and the first half ended 1-0 to the opposing team.

“We had a hard talk with the players before the second half,” Maphike said.

“With our investors present at the match, and with our fans who travelled with us to the game, our players were given an extra push.”

Late in the game, Cambridge got a throw-in on the far side of the pitch that was flicked on by Samkelo Nhlapo inside the Luso team’s 18-yard box.

The ball struck the hand of a Luso player, giving the Cambridge team a penalty kick.

Cambridge player Wayne Matle took the kick and scored, making the score 1-1.

“It was a tough game, but we will settle for the one point we gained from this match,” said head coach Godfrey Hermanus.

Technical director Dennis Metsana said, “We can only build from here and get better results.

“Thank you to our community, who took the time to come and support the team.

“You are the key to our success and keep our boys motivated.”
